THE HANGOVER 4 (2025)

The Hangover 4 (2025) marks the long-awaited return of the Wolfpack after years of silence. Set a decade after the chaotic events of the third movie, the story begins with a surprising twist — Doug is getting remarried, and this time, it’s a destination wedding in Barcelona, Spain. The original group, Phil, Stu, and Alan, reunite for what is supposed to be a calm, mature bachelor weekend. But as always, things spiral out of control.

The trip takes an unexpected turn when the group wakes up in a strange apartment in the heart of the city, completely hungover and missing one of their own — Alan. The only clues they have are a flamenco dress, a goat tied to a chair, and a video on Phil’s phone of them partying with a famous Spanish celebrity. As the trio retraces their steps across Barcelona, they uncover bizarre events involving underground parties, mistaken identity with an international art thief, and even a stolen Picasso painting.

Stu once again finds himself in the worst situations, including waking up with an accidental tattoo of Salvador Dalí’s mustache on his face. Meanwhile, Phil tries to keep the group together while hiding the fact that he may have accidentally proposed to a stranger during the blackout. The movie brings back the classic chaos and mystery that made the franchise famous, but with a new cultural twist that keeps the formula fresh.

Alan’s storyline adds a layer of emotional depth, as he’s found living with a group of street performers, believing he’s discovered his true calling in life. His journey from being lost to realizing the importance of friendship and loyalty gives the film a surprisingly touching moment amid the comedy. Doug, as usual, remains mostly on the sidelines, but his role in the climax delivers one of the biggest laughs of the film.

Directed by Todd Phillips, The Hangover 4 balances outrageous humor with sharp writing and unforgettable visuals. The setting of Barcelona adds a new flavor, visually and culturally, to the misadventures. Cameos from previous characters, like Mr. Chow, provide nostalgic laughs while introducing new ridiculous situations.

Overall, The Hangover 4 successfully revives the spirit of the original trilogy. It doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel but instead embraces the absurdity that fans love. With hilarious new twists and heartfelt moments, the Wolfpack proves that even after all these years, they still know how to lose a friend — and find him in the most unexpected ways.
