The Grinch 2: A Whoville Wedding (2026) – Official movie trailer

In the picturesque and ever-festive town of Whoville, preparations are underway for the grandest event of the year: the wedding of the beloved Who citizen Martha May and her fiancé, the charming and industrious Who-entrepreneur, Augustus Who. Nestled high above the town on the snow-dusted slopes of Mount Crumpit lives the green, reclusive figure known simply as the Grinch. Though once scarred by bitterness and isolation, the Grinch has slowly become something of a local oddity-turned-friend thanks to his previous Christmas redemption. Yet even now, as the wedding day draws near, the Grinch feels the stirrings of something uneasy: a strange mix of longing, fear of change, and the tingle of unfamiliar excitement.

As Martha May and Augustus send out invitations and the Whos bustle about with décor, flowers and holiday-themed festivity, the Grinch watches from his cave. He remembers how solitary he once was, how his heart grew “three sizes” when the Whos embraced him, and yet he wonders how he fits into this new chapter. When the wedding planners approach him—inviting him to serve as an honorary guest and perhaps even officiate a small part of the ceremony—the Grinch hesitates. Deep down he fears that a wedding in Whoville, with all its joyous noise, laughter and expectation, might be too much for him. He wonders if he will revert to his old self, if he will spoil the moment, or if in fact this is his chance to truly belong.

Meanwhile, beneath the cheerful exteriors, complications begin to simmer. Augustus’s old business partner arrives with demands and hints of scandal: he claims that a prized heirloom ring for Martha has been lost, and the wedding might need to be postponed. Martha May, determined and warm-hearted, refuses to let the wedding be ruined—but the stress begins to ripple into Whoville’s joyous preparations. The Grinch, hearing whispers of the problem while whittling a gift of carved wood for Martha, realises that this is his moment to step in. He offers to help locate the missing ring, to retrieve it in his own unconventional way, perhaps even from the windswept crags of his mountain. In doing so, the Grinch will not merely save a wedding—he will be risking his new place among the Whos, and challenging his own self-image.

The journey to retrieve the ring becomes a mini-adventure: the Grinch descending the mountain in the snow, accompanied by his loyal dog Max, navigating icy ledges and unexpected sabotage from the scheming ex-partner. He discovers the ring hidden in a forgotten crevice near Whoville’s boundary, wrapped in Who-garland and half-buried in snow. His heart flutters at the idea of bringing it back, not just as a gift—but as a symbol of his connection to the community he once rejected. When he returns it to Martha May and Augustus just hours before the ceremony, the Whos cheer and the Grinch inwardly shudders at the noise—but something in his chest warms to the sound.

On the day of the wedding, the scene is pure Who-magic: snow-tipped rooftops, lanterns dancing in the twilight, carol-singers lining the square. Martha May glides down the aisle, Augustus waits with a hopeful smile, and the Grinch stands nearby—nervous, awkward, yet determined. As the vows are exchanged, the Grinch realises that this moment isn’t about him—but about love, community, belonging. For the first time, he doesn’t feel like the outsider on the mountaintop. He feels part of something. His green fur seems less of a mark of difference and more of a badge of who he has become.

In the final moments as the reception begins and the Whos gather in laughter, dancing, and roast-beast feasting, the Grinch retreats for a moment to his cave. But instead of the old wallowing gloom, he places the carved wood gift he made for Martha May on a shelf and sits with Max, listening to the distant music. He realises that weddings, much like Christmas, are not just about gifts or grand celebrations—they are about the bonds we choose, the chance to belong, and the courage to step down from the mountain into the warmth of companionship. And as the snow falls softly over Whoville, the Grinch knows his heart has grown yet another size.
